" Caribbean Tourism Week In New York Fast Approaching "






Hardbeatnews, NEW YORK, NY (USA), Fri. Apr. 8, 2005: Caribbean Tourism Organization, officials have yet to release the full-schedule of events for this year’s May 29- June 3 (2005) Caribbean Week in New York (USA), but they do know that internationally renowned Jamaican performer Byron Lee will heat up the 32nd Annual Governments of the Caribbean State Ball on June 3 (2005).

Revelers at the Waldorf-Astoria gala will be thrilled by Byron Lee and the Dragonaires’ infectious mix of sensational Caribbean rhythms, said the CTO, adding that the band’s appearance is being sponsored by The Jamaica Tourist Board.



“We are excited about Byron Lee and the Dragonaires’ performance at this year’s Governments of the Caribbean State Ball, and we extend our gratitude to the Jamaica Tourist Board for agreeing to sponsor the band,” said Karen Ford-Warner, acting secretary general for CTO. “The band’s celebrity status, superb talent and dynamic show-stopping performance raise the excitement level for all who will attend the CTO Ball.”

Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, first achieved prominence backing up Harry Belafonte and rose to fame thanks to the James Bond movie “Dr. No.” They created a buzz when they performed at the 29th Annual Governments on the Caribbean State Ball in 2002 with the manner in which they communicated their soul, feeling and vigor through their music.

With over 150 awards to its credit, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires continue to take the sound of soca music all over the world. The band has evolved over the years and, with few exceptions, most members have been with the band for 25 to 30 years.
