" US website warns of 'Carnival of crime' in T&T "

AN international website has been launched to highlight kidnappings and other crimes in Trinidad and Tobago.

The website www.iocp.us was launched by the International Organisation for Caribbean People Inc, based in the United States.

The IOCP was founded and headed by Trinidad-born US citizen Francisca Seebaran-Dayman who is based in Dallas, Texas.

In a statement on the website, Seebaran-Dayman said it was launched to "draw attention to the unrestrained Carnival of crime that has been allowed to continue its macabre revelry throughout the land of Trinidad and Tobago since 2001, and continues to leave in its wake pain, anguish and terror for all the people of the nation".

The statement says that the "IOCP is non-political and non-sectarian in its principles and practices".

In a telephone interview Seebaran-Dayman said she found difficulty in getting relevant crime information from the Ministry of National Security and police.

Seebaran-Dayman said it was important for both nationals and non-nationals abroad to be informed about the country's crime situation and this was one of the main reasons of launching the website.
