Blinded will vie for various awards in the movie category which includes the Best Feature, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Actor among many others.
The scope of the festival ranges from high profile to novice, so one experiences an array of films and individuals driven by independent movie making. The NYIIFVF is a competitive event and is dedicated to making things happen for emerging filmmakers and screenwriters. The festival has cultivated excellent relationships with thousands of companies in both cities.
The festival is known as 'the voice for independent film' and receives extensive coverage in all major media. As Indie guru Abel Ferrara famously quoted in an interview with Movie Maker, "This festival is the real deal; everybody else just talks about doing it and these guys just do it."
The festival represents a new wave of independent filmmakers and offers a unique opportunity for members of the film industry as well as delegates and attendees without the pretentiousness.
‘Blinded’ made its full length debut on Saturday January 28 at the Grenada Trade Center (GTC) and February 4 and 5 at the St George’s University and the GTC.
This is indeed was the first step for Producer Anderson Quarless and his team. The movie which was launched last year with an A plus rating have been the subject of interest on the entertainment stage here.
Quarless said, since the launch of the movie, he had received some positive feedback from the populace. The Blinded team after releasing the preview to the movie had to revisit the drawing board to enhance some aspect of the movie scenes; since it is so highly appreciated.
The movie is geared at educating young people as to how they can avoid domestic violence and the reason why one must speak out against it.
The 1hr and 20mins production, according to Quarless, will allow both men and women to understand their role in society, how they can overcome life’s challenges and embrace the opportunities.
