Hardbeatnews, PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Mon. Apr. 24, 2006: Newly sworn in Jamaican prime minister, Portia Simpson-Miller, is set to touch down at the Piarco International Airport (T&T) this evening for a three-day official visit to the twin-island Republic.
It will mark Simpson-Miller’s first official trip as head of state, since taking the oath of office on March 30 (2006). She announced the visit last Wednesday (19 Apr 2006) during a meeting with Caricom secretary-general Edwin Carrington, at Jamaica House.
Caricom Chair and Prime Minister of Trinidad, Patrick Manning, had reportedly extended the invitation to the Jamaican leader. Her itinerary has yet to be revealed by the T&T PM’s office. – Hardbeatnews.com
