Jamaican Pilot To Make History Tomorrow

Hardbeatnews, MIAMI, FL, Tues. June 26, 2007: A 23-year-old Jamaican pilot is set to enter the record books tomorrow when he touches down at Opa-locka Executive Airport outside Miami, FL.

Barrington Irving is set to become the youngest person to fly solo around the Earth. He has completed most of his mission and will return to the place he started Wednesday aboard his “Inspiration” single-engine Columbia 400.

Irving built the plane from more than $300,000 (US) in donated parts before taking off for his world tour from Florida on March 23 (2007).

From Florida, he flew to Cleveland and New York before continuing into Canada, then across the Atlantic to Europe, the Middle East and Asia. From there it was on to Juneau, Alaska, then Seattle and Denver before arriving in Houston Saturday. He was welcomed to Houston and is set to stop over in Alabama before returning to base tomorrow.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in inner-city Miami, Barrington hopes his historic flight will encourage other young people to resist the negative influences of the streets and work toward their dreams. – Hardbeatnews.com
