" Earthquake rocks Trinidad, Tobago, Barbados, Martinique, Dominica and other Caribbean Windward islands "
|
|
An earthquake rocked Trinidad and Tobago around 3 pm local time today (29 Nov 2007).
Telephone lines on some parts of the islands went dead for about 20 minutes and cellular calls became difficult to place on one network.
To the hour, no reports of death or injuries have been received.
In fact, for the most part Trinbagonians carry on with their lives as normal.
Office buildings in Port of Spain (Trinidad) were vacated temporarily as a precaution.
The earthquake that was felt here in Trinidad & Tobago and earlier estimated to be around 4.8 in magnitude turned out to be the residue from a much stronger 7.3 earthquake "up the islands" as Trinbagonians like to say.

Focus will be on Dominica where the earthquake was felt strongest.
